1/1/2020 Letter A Be Affectionate

I am feeling pretty hugged right now. A hug doesn’t have to be a physical thing, it can be a feeling of appreciation. As 2019 drew to a close I received two prestigious awards; The Best Indie Book Award in the children’s category and a GOLD level award from the Mom’s Choice Awards. Accolades are indeed satisfying. I write this, not to toot my own horn, but to pass on a very important point; hug the people you love by letting them know you see them and that you appreciate them. While physical touch is quite necessary for knowing you are cared for and allowing you to grow and thrive, there are so many other ways to give a hug to those who need one from you. So my first New Year’s Resolution; I will make a point to “hug” the people in my life every day. I may just say, “Hey I like that outfit your are wearing.” Or maybe I will tell someone that being with them makes me feel good. I might take the hand of someone I’m with and say nothing at all. I might say thank you for helping me with the dishes, or putting the laundry away, or picking up your toys. I might just give someone a smile. Maybe I will make a point to notice your best feature, or I’ll tell you that I think you’re swell. I will “hug” the people I love, the people I meet, the people I see. Let me know how you let someone know they were “hugged” by you. Happy New Year.
